South Dakota junior Chris Nilsen cleared a world-leading 19-1 (5.82m) on his first attempt to win the men's invitational pole vault at the 25th Beach Invitational at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track. Nilsen eclipsed the meet record of 18-8.75 (5.71m) produced last year by Akron's Matthew Ludwig.
